Softball Victoria is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Life Member, Lorraine Ireland.
An integral member of the Melbourne and Victorian softball communities, Lorraine was a highly respected and dedicated administrator, dear friend and mentor to many – for over five decades in softball.
Her dedication to the sport saw her hold numerous positions, including that of State Secretary for 11 years, and was awarded Life Membership of Softball Victoria in 1977.
To add to her load, Lorraine accepted the Presidency of the Melbourne Softball Association in 1982, a position she held until 2013.
Testament to her commitment to our sport, Lorraine was honored with Softball Australia’s Service Award and the Australian Sport Medal in 2000, highlighting her efforts towards our nation’s sporting excellence.
She touched the hearts of those who knew her, and the entire softball community’s thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family at this time.
Rest In Peace, Lorraine.
