Mill Park Reserve and Northern District Softball Association will play host to this weekend’s Under 14 State Championships – officially kicking off the Summer of State titles contested in 2020.
Top junior boys’ and girls’ association teams will be in action to be crowned State Champions. This will be the first U14’s event in the new age bracket, created to replace the old U15 championships from previous years.
In the Boys Cup, six associations will have their aspirations firmly set on taking the championship. On Saturday morning, Albury Wodonga open their campaign against Sunshine/Werribee – Dandenong Waverley will do-battle against Sunbury – while Knox/Frankston take to the diamond against Northern District on their home deck.
Over in the Girls Cup, Sunbury/GEMSA, Northern Districts/Sunshine, Knox/Frankston, Albury Wodonga, Casey and Waverley will be represented.
To open proceedings, Albury Wodonga take on Waverley – Casey will face Sunbury/GEMSA – while Knox/Frankston will be eager to get early runs on the board when they take on Northern District/Sunshine.
This weekend offers a great opportunity for Victoria’s junior contingent to test themselves against the very best the state has to offer, in what will be many athletes first taste at a state championship event.
The top two teams at the end of the fixture rounds will face off in the respective boys’ and girls’ grand finals on Sunday afternoon.
