Bron Madigan

Description of Background / Expertise:

Managing Director – Dynamix Sport Projects.

Involvement in the Sport:

Bron started playing Softball at 13, and played as a catcher, short stop & left field.

Bron represented Sale at numerous State Championships, and started coaching softball at 16 with school, club and Sale teams. Bron has also completed Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses.

Bron also played for Deakin University at multiple Australian University Games, and continued to play as an adult socially with Melbourne Softball Association slow pitch competition.

Ruth Caldwell

Board Position: Director

Date Elected: September 2017

Description of Background / Expertise:

Ruth brings governance and stakeholder management expertise to the board, through her role in advising City of Melbourne Councillors in portfolios as diverse as Finance and Governance to Environmental Sustainability. Her current role as Program Controller for the Queen Victoria Market Precinct Renewal Program brings additional financial, procurement and project management experience.

She has a Bachelor Degree in Arts, double majoring in Political Studies and Japanese and a Certificate in Governance Practice. Ruth has significant experience working with the Japanese government and business communities both in Japan and in Melbourne.

Involvement in the Sport:

Ruth has been involved with the Northwood Falcons Softball Club since she was old enough to start playing T-ball. She’s a player and coach and more recently a Masters competitor.

Ben Byrnes

Board Position: Director & Chair – Finance Committee

Description of Background / Expertise:

CPA, with nearly 20 years of Industry based financial experience.  I am currently the Financial Services Manager for a large agricultural company.  My specialties are Financial Reporting, Taxation and Compliance, Audit Planning.

Involvement in the Sport:

I began playing Softball in 1991 when I was 11 years old. A friend from school introduced me to the sport.  I made my first state champs rep team playing in the Open Men’s in 1996 when I was 16 and will be playing my 16th state Championship this year.  I represented Victoria in U/23 Men’s in 2001 and 2002.  Then in Open Men’s in 2003 and the Championship team in 2004.

I have coached various state champs junior and senior teams.

I have held various club-based committee positions around the Werribee Association.

Michelle Clyne

Board Position: Director

Description of Background / Expertise:

Michelle has more than 20 years experience working in sports media management at the Australian Football League and the St Kilda Football Club.

Michelle is the AFL Publicity and Promotions Manager and the AFL Women’s Media Manager. Her expertise includes media planning, project management, media releases, social media planning and implementation, crisis management, match day media, events and sponsorship announcements.

Has a Master’s in Business (Sports Management), a Graduate Diploma in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Involvement in the Sport:

A softballer with the Northwood Falcons in the Waverley Softball Association for two decades, she has also played Melbourne Softball Association slowpitch with the same team during this time and regularly plays in Masters tournaments.

Prior to this was a provisional state league netballer.

Member of the AFL Victoria Women’s Advisory Board 2015-2016.

Northwood Falcons committee member 2013-present.

Media Liaison at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Anthony Bradstreet

Description of Background / Expertise:

Anthony is a transformation Manager with a large Australian bank and has a long career in technology and leadership roles.

He has significant background strategy development and facilitating the defining and planning of multi-year plans.  His current role is focusing on managing transformational change across technology and business teams.

He brings experience in ICT, strategy development, procurement and governance.

Involvement in the Sport:

Anthony has been involved in Softball for ten years as a parent, administrator, coach and umpire.  He is passionate about growing the sport and encouraging new players into the game.

Roles in softball included:

  • Past president of the Monarch Softball Club
  • Past president Northern District Softball Association.
  • Level 3 coach coaching at club, association and state level.
  • Level 1 umpire.

Mike Billing

Board Position: Director

Date Elected: April 2018

Description of Background / Expertise:

Mike is an experienced sports business professional having worked in a diverse range of roles both in Australia and internationally and ranked at number 13 in Chief Marketing Officer Magazine’s inaugural Top 50 CMO’s in Australia in 2015.

Mike has a breath of experience working across a wide range of roles in the sporting industry. He has worked across international multi sport events, such as the Commonwealth Games an Asian Games, the peak government body for sport tasked with driving participation in the UK; Sport England, professional sporting clubs in Australia; Melbourne Heart and Melbourne Storm as well as the Operations Manager of the Sporting Shooters Association (Victoria).

Mike is currently a Director of Captura Marketing which is a marketing services, project management and communications business and has worked with a range of clients in sport and the wider marketing industry.

Involvement in the Sport:

Other than playing at school and watching on TV, Mike has had limited direct contact with the sport of softball but is very interested to learn more and understands the impact that strong sporting organisations have at a local level.

Adam Woolnough

Board Position: Director

Date Elected: February 2020

Description of Background / Expertise:

Adam has a long association with sport, both at a community level and also in a professional sense. Adam started playing rugby league at 7yrs of age, and finished playing the game at 31yrs after a 9yr professional career in the NRL with three club: Newcastle Knights, Penrith Panthers and the Melbourne Storm.

Post playing career lead Adam to working at the Queensland Academy of Sport as their Personal Development Adviser and Senior Adviser, working with elite athletes from Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games sports in their ‘off-field’ pursuits, such as career transition, wellbeing, community and personal development.

For the past 18mths, Adam has worked at the AIS as the Engagement Manager. The ultimate goal is to have athletes seen as role models and recognized as a positive influence on the community.

Involvement in the Sport:

Adam has been involved in coaching in the top-tier Queensland rugby league competition, a wonderful experience working with professional and semi-professional players.

Although no longer playing contact sport, Adam enjoy recreational surfing and playing touch football through the winter and summer.


Liza Newnham

Description of Background / Expertise:

Liza is a seasoned strategic commercial executive experienced in leading and driving business growth and commercial outcomes for media, sports and content organisations worldwide.

Liza has ‘nose to tail’ experience working across all critical business areas in the media-sports-content ecosystem including roles in organisations such as Cricket Australia, 21st Century Fox (nee News Corporation) international & FOXTEL. She has a passion to help sports federations grow their ‘business of sport’ to set them up for future security and success.

Liza is passionate about the power of sport to influence & lead change, especially in the space of raising the profile of women’s sports & the impact of environmental sustainability on fields where we play.

Interest and/or Involvement in the Sport:

Liza played softball through school and university and is excited to reconnect with the sport & help keep it relevant to the next generation of school kids/grassroots participations.
