Lindsay Whitehead acknowledged with Service Award

Congratulations to Lindsay Whitehead, who is our next Merle Short Service Award recipient.

Lindsay has worn the navy and powder blue uniform since the early 1980s. Lindsay started umpiring his daughter Peta’s school matches because there was no umpire – which sparked a 40 year career.

Lindsay has a proud history of rising through the ranks of the Softball Australia umpiring system, which culminated in him being presented with his Level 6 accreditation in 1998.

For Waverley SA, Lindsay has played integral role in training and educating young aspiring umpires. Lindsay has also dedicated himself to many roles as a member of the Victorian Umpiring Committee including State Director of Umpiring.

A leader and mentor to young umpires, Lindsay’s calmness under pressure is admirable as he continues to volunteer his time for the development of others in softball.
