Jeff Barratt recognised with Merle Short Service Award

Congratulations to Jeff Barratt who was recognised as a Merle Short Service Award recipient at Saturday’s AGM.

These Service Awards are bestowed upon volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding service within the softball community. Over the coming days, we will share the stories of our 9 award recipients in 2020.

Jeff has represented, volunteered and supported many clubs during his involvement in softball. A loyal player, umpire, coach and representative of Sunshine Softball Association, Jeff has volunteered to support countless fundraisers, cook at BBQs, prepare grounds for tournaments, and canteen and bar duties.

Jeff was on the Albion North Softball Club Committee for over 10 years where he covered numerous administrative roles such as – President and Board member. For over 20 years, Jeff has maintained a strong sense of commitment and loyalty to softball at both Sunshine Softball Association and Melbourne Softball Association, and is still currently making contributions to both associations.

Jeff has served his clubs passionately and whenever the call out has been made for extra volunteers, Jeff is there without question.

Since 1993 Softball Victoria has seen over 100 volunteers recognised as Merle Short Service Award recipients. The award is presented to volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding service within the softball community, regardless of whether that service is on the diamond, coaching or umpiring, or off the diamond in administration roles.
