Softball Victoria COVID-19 Update

Softball Victoria COVID-19 Update

Dear Victorian softball community,

To say that the last few days have been challenging would be an understatement, however sport is one of many areas of our lives that are significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The health and wellbeing of all our players, coaches, administators, support staff and families remains our priority. We will continue to take the advice from health experts and government when making decisions about current and future events.

I would like to thank our member associations that heeded advice to cease competitions on Saturday and your continued support in cancelling competitions in Victoria for the remainder of the summer season.

Softball Victoria’s strong recommendation is to suspend all softball activity immediately until further information is available. We are committed to providing you with the most up-to-date information and as often as possible. This situation is evolving and as such communication is important to ensure we are all well informed.

Softball Australia have now also recommended that all softball activity ceases immediately.

Softball Victoria Events and Programs

  • Softball Victoria Under 18 and Open State Championships have been postponed until further notice. All team entry fees and individual registrations will be refunded shortly.
  • The State Team Dinner scheduled for 18th April will be postponed until further notice.
    • Players/Officials will be advised of refund details if the event is cancelled
    • Guests tickets purchased will be refunded in full immediately via TeamApp
  • The Softball Victoria Masters Championships scheduled for the 6th to 8th June 2020 will continue as planned, with a final decision to be provided by 25th April 2020.
    • Teams and players are advised to check the terms and conditions of accommodation and travel bookings in the case that it is cancelled.
  • Softball Victoria will postpone a decision on entering men’s and women’s teams into the Softball Australia Under 23 National Championships until more direction is provided by Softball Australia in the coming weeks.
    • Trials for both teams are suspended indefinitely

Thank you again for your understanding and support during this challenging time.

At this stage the Softball Victoria office will remain open and I would encourage any questions to be directed to me via email at admin@softballvic.org.au

Sincerely

Nick Frayne
