Waverley and Dandenong triumph in Albury

Waverley and Dandenong have completed hard fought victories in the Cup competitions to take out Victoria’s most prestigious events in Albury this afternoon.

The Waverley women dominated their final against a strong Dandenong outfit that fought hard all match, eventually winning 13 – 3 in stifling heat. Pitcher Dale Stocker once again lead from the front for Waverley, and along with Sam Allan ensured a comfortable victory.

The Men’s Cup Grand Final was a nail biter with Dandenong closing out the match to win 6 – 5; Adam Jansen kept his cool to deliver when it mattered most from the mound in the final inning. In a fierce contest between two high quality teams, it was Geelong who gained an early lead before being pegged back late, an all-round team performance from Dandenong securing a memorable win.

In the Women’s Plate Grand Final, a Knox team lead by Titans Coach Mark Rigg, and with a blend of experience and youth prevailed against Geelong 11 – 6 whilst in the Men’s Plate Grand Final, Casey proved too strong Albury Wodonga 11 – 0.
