Victorian representatives impress, Waverley girls secure silver at IFS

Victorian athletes have had a successful campaign at the 2017 International Friendship Series held in Redlands, Queensland last week.

Seven Victorian players featured in their respective national squads during the tournament, with Moana BenjaminJulianne Kinsella and Georgia Reynolds all part of the title-winning Australia Gold team, while fellow Vics Grace PetersSantara Zachan and Adele Wood turned out for Australia Green in the Girls competition. Samuel Reale was the sole Victorian featuring in the Boys tournament, and was a valuable member of the victorious Australia Gold team.

The positives continued for Victoria on the team front, with Waverley Softball Association having an incredible tournament to finish runner-up to Australia Gold in the Girls competition.

Unfortunately for the Waverley girls, Day 5 of competition was a washout, meaning their gold medal play-off had to be abandoned.

Georgia O’Donovan’s exceptional campaign for Waverley was recognised with selection as the Girls’ Tournament MVP and at 3rd Base in the All-Tournament Team.
