Victoria remain in the frame to taste finals action in both the Women’s and Men’s Under 19 National Softball Championships after Day 3 in Blacktown.
The Vics sit in third in the Women’s competition courtesy of a comprehensive 10-1 win over South Australia. Victoria were unable to contain the undefeated Queensland team later in the afternoon going down 7-0, but still sit pretty in the competition thanks to a superior runs for/against differential to South Australia and ACT who also sit on two wins.
Despite going down in both games against Queensland (7-4) and New South Wales (14-0), Victoria still remain in the hunt to claim fourth spot and a playoff berth in the Men’s competition. They currently occupy fourth spot at the end of Day 3, two points (one win) clear of Western Australia.
The two Victorian teams are in action again on Thursday with the Under 19 Women taking on ACT this morning and Western Australia at 2:00pm, while the Men play Western Australia at 4:30pm and ACT at 7:00pm.
With two-and-a-half days to go in the preliminary rounds, teams will be pushing hard in the coming days to push into the top four to be in contention for the finals on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
