Titans perform strongly on opening day of Gilley’s Shield

A number of National Championships kicked off yesterday with Victorian teams in action across the Open Women Gilley’s Shield, Under 15 girls, Under 17 girls and Under 17 boys competitions.

The Victorian Titans kicked off their campaign against an experienced ACT line up and were immediately under pressure with ACT scoring 3 in the first inning. The Titans fought hard and were competitive for the remainder of the match but unfortunately couldn’t make up the initial gap, defeated 5-2.

In their second match the Titans faced the WA Flames in what eventuated into a very tight tussle. Scores were locked on zero for the first 5 innings until the Flames scored in the 6th inning – taking a one-nil lead into the 7th. From there the Titans dominated the match, scoring 6 runs to 1 thanks to superb performances from Kylie Steemers, Jess Bahn and Bree Dawson.

On day 2 of competition the Titans face the Queensland Heat at 3:00pm and the SA Starz at 6:30pm. To follow live scores click on the link below:
