SSA U17 Girls look to claim School Sport Championship

The School Sport Victoria U17 Girls side will be looking for a big win over the coming week, as they head to Cairns for the School Sport Australia U17 Softball Championships.

Kicking off on Saturday 19th May, the Victorians will be looking to build upon their result last year’s Pacific School Games and have set their sights on a finals position.

Experienced veterans, Marlie Hurinui and Grace Peters, will lead the Victorian side into their first major tournament of the year. Their leadership will be bolstered by returning SSA U17 Championship players Montana Chavasse and Kristin Round who will no doubt pass on their prior experience to younger players, all of whom have represented Victoria previously.

Head Coach, Heather Webb said that the team is looking forward to putting their training into action and ensuring they have a fun and successful time in Cairns.

The Victorians will begin their School Sport Australia U17 Championships campaign against the ACT on Saturday at 2:30pm, before going on to face NSW, QLD, WA and SA over the course of the double round robin.

Results will be available throughout the tournament here, with updates provided where possible across Softball Victoria social media.
