Softball Victoria Announce Wellbeing and Performance Psychology Partner

Softball Victoria is excited to announce the signing of a partnership with The Mind Room to support our athletes and community.

The partnership will focus initially on providing support to the Under 15 Boys and Girls state teams as well as identified coaches within the state system.

Co-founder and Sports and Performance Psychologist at The Mind Room, Michael Inglis, says ‘this exciting new partnership with Softball Victoria provides an opportunity to commence working with athletes’ mental fitness at the beginning of their high performance journey. Providing mental skills training at this early stage in their career has great long-term benefits and by nurturing grass roots sport in this way we are able to help the athletes look out for their mental health as well as working on performance skills.

Softball Victoria Athlete and Coach Development Manager, Simon Blundell, welcomed the opportunity to build a partnership with an organisation that can bring the skills and knowledge that The Mind Room possess which can directly assist our athletes and coaches not only in their sporting pursuits but also their lives away from sport.

“The Mind Room are a proven leader in the area of mental health and wellbeing and have a wealth of experience working with a broad cross-section of the community, from elite athletes to, Mums, Dads, kids and everyday Australians and having them as a Softball Victoria partner is a significant announcement,” Blundell said.

“We all know that sport can be a mental game as much as a physical one and with the pace of our lives these days maintaining our mental health is just as important as our physical health and setting our athletes and community to succeed in both of these areas is a tremendous opportunity. This is probably an area that our athletes and coaches have not previously been exposed to and we’re excited for the partnership to begin.”

There will be more details announced shortly and Softball Victoria will share the learning experiences of our athletes and coaches over the coming months.
