Softball Victoria is pleased to announce that the 23rd edition of the Softball Victoria Masters Championships will be returning to Shepparton in 2019.
After the tournament was successfully hosted by the Werribee Softball Association in 2018, the SV Masters Championships will return to Shepparton where it has been held for five of the last nine years.
Greater Shepparton City Council has once again provided significant support for the delivery of this event and the Mooroopna Recreation Reserve will once again be the venue for all matches on the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend, from the 8th to 10th June 2019.
The Softball Victoria Masters Championships is one of the most successful events on the Victorian softball calendar; regularly attracting over 700 competitors with a high standard of play and an even higher level of spirit and fun.
Softball Victoria CEO Nick Frayne said it was exciting for all involved with the SV Masters Championships to see the event return to the Shepparton region.
“The Softball Victoria Masters Championships has a proud history in Shepparton and following feedback from the participants over recent years, the overwhelming majority found Shepparton to be the ideal venue for an event such as this,” Frayne said.
“The support we receive from Greater Shepparton City Council is outstanding and the expertise that they provide us to turn a football and cricket complex in to a high-class softball venue is a testament to their amazing staff.
“Victoria is home to some of the best Masters players in Australia and the standard of softball is high, so it presents an excellent mix of sport and fun that provides all attendees with a really positive experience.”
Greater Shepparton Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe is excited to be continuing to strengthen its relationship with Softball Victoria through the hosting of major events.
“Hosting this event continues our tradition of hosting this high-profile event in partnership with Softball Victoria,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“This event is a key legacy from the investment and upgrades into the Mooroopna facility, which has recently hosted the Ultimate Victoria Mixed Championships (Frisbee), Tennis Seniors Australia Teams and Individual Championships in 2016 and again in in January 2019, and the Country Week Tennis in 2014 and again in February 2019.”
“Council strives to attract the biggest and best events to Greater Shepparton boosting employment, tourism, entertainment and liveability for our community. Our teams are working hard creating jobs, keeping business busy and the economy strong and this event will be a great showcase of this with over $1million injected into Greater Shepparton.”
