While for many the Easter period is a time to relax with family and friends, the Waverley Softball Association took the time to host juniors from all over the country and across the Tasman Sea for their annual Waverley Easter Junior tournament.
With teams travelling from New Zealand, Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, as well as local associations, there was plenty of competition on offer.
This year’s tournament was a great success with some outstanding and entertaining games played, complemented by beautiful, sunny weather.
Interstate visitors, the Canberra Force defeated locals, Deer Park, in the U13 Mixed competition, while the Craigieburn Eagles got a win over the Sturt Falcons Softball Club in the U15 competition.
It was a Sydney v Sydney battle in the U17 competition, with the South West Sydney Academy of Sport just edging out a win over the Western Sydney Academy of Sport. While international side, Te Aroha from New Zealand defeated the Glenelg Rebels in the U19 competition.
The Waverley Easter Junior tournament is run annually and is designed to provide opportunities for juniors to enjoy the game, develop skills and build lasting friendships.
