Victoria’s Open Men’s and Under 15 Boys representative teams have continued their promising start to their respective 2018 National Championships at Hawker on Monday.
The Open Men’s team played just the one game on Day 2, defeating South Australia in a tight encounter 1-0. The Vics’ lone run came in the fifth innings courtesy of Ricky Wheeler, who after a triple to right capitalised on an error at second base.
The win leaves the Vics sitting in second on the table with a record of two wins and one loss after two days of competition; a position they will be looking to solidify with victories against New South Wales (2:00pm) and the ladder-leading ACT (4:30pm) on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Under 15 Boys also sit at two wins and one loss following their two matches against Western Australia and ACT yesterday. In the morning game, the boys from the West were impressive in all areas in their 11-4 win, but Vics bounced back in the afternoon against hosts ACT with a comprehensive 12-3 victory.
Much like the Open Men, the Under 15 Boys will be looking to entrench themselves within the top four with victories in their two games against Queensland Storm (4:30pm) and South Australia (7:00pm) on Tuesday.
