For the first year, the new regional format will take effect at the 2020 Under 16 and Under 18 State Championships.
Four new regions will take to the diamond across the dates of 23 Feb & 1 March at Dandenong Softball Association (Under 16’s), and 22 & 29 March at Geelong Softball Association (Under 18’s).
The four regional teams include – Eastside Spectres, South East Stingers, Western Force and Northern Stars, which all feature associations that have joined together based on their respective geographic regions across Victoria.
The age groups have also evolved from previous years that saw Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 events, compared to the Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 events scheduled for 2020.
These changes are aimed to increase the standard of competition and enhance the pathway for Victoria’s juniors as they move up to senior competition.
