Softball Victoria (SV) is pleased to announce the Eastside Spectres as the first Regional team to be named as part of the new Regional model for the 2019-20 State Championships.
The Eastside Spectres represent three Softball Victoria member associations with Waverley Softball Association, Knox & District Softball Association and Glen Eira Moorabbin Softball Association joining forces to enter combined teams in the Under 16 and Under 18 State Championships.
The shift to a Regional model was first announced in March this year following consultation with all member associations and will feature the U16 and U18 boys and girls State Championships being played between four newly established zones.
The State Championships schedule is listed on the Softball Victoria website here.
Softball Victoria CEO Nick Frayne said he is excited by the way that many of the Regions have embraced the improvements.
“It is pleasing that the majority of the regions have embraced this change and have established strong working relationships with the other associations within their zone.” he said.
“The Eastside Spectres appointed Shane Goodall as their Region Manager early in the process and his knowledge of the sport and commitment to softball development within Victoria is exceptional so it is no surprise this region is leading the way in its operations’, said Frayne.
“Bringing together three strong, vibrant communities as we have in this region presents a fantastic opportunity for our member associations to work together to increase participation and improve the skills of players within the performance pathway, and I fully expect the standard of softball in these events to increase significantly.”
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the announcement of the remaining three zones.
