Day 1 Wrap – Open Men’s and Under 15 Boys

Check out what has happened on the opening day of the Open Men’s and U15 Boys National Championships.

Open Men’s: Victoria 9 – Queensland 4

It was a tight start to the game with both pitchers dominating early.

Queensland were first to score with three runs in the third.

Victoria bounced back with one in the fourth which Queensland quickly answered.  

Victoria continued to rally with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to tie up the game. 

Victoria then came out to string in the seventh scoring five runs and holding out Queensland in the seventh for a great comeback win.

Joel Goodall was Victoria’s player of the game.  After a slow start he got stronger as the game went on.

Lewis Weldon with two hits from three turns at bat was Victoria’s next best.

Open Men’s: Victoria 4 – WA 5

WA started strongly with a three-run home run in the first.  

Victoria responded in the third with three runs tying up the game.

WA quickly bounce back with a home run in the fourth and a further run in the sixth.

Victoria trailing by two scored one run in the seventh to go down by one run.

Under 15 Boys: Victoria 5 – NSW Metro Orange 2

Today we had our first game against NSW Metro Orange.  

We took a few innings to settle our nerves and we were 2-0 in the fourth innings.  

The Victorian Boys rallied to score two runs to even the score.  

In our last chance to bat, our batting came together and we scored three runs.  

They held the opposition until the end of the game.  

It was great to see all the boys unite together.
