Day 1 Nationals – Open Men & U14 Boys

Check out what happened on the opening day at the Open Men’s National Championships and U14 Boys Regional Championships.

Open Men – Game 1:  Victoria 4 – QLD 5

Victoria took on Queensland in game 1 for the week.

It was a very tight game with Queensland taking an early lead four runs to one.

Victoria fought back hard to tie the game up in the bottom of the seventh after a homerun from Captain Glen Rigg.

Queensland scored in the top of the ninth. Unfortunately, Victoria were shut down in the bottom of the ninth after a great double play to finish the game.

The player of the game was Glen Rigg – with three hits including a huge homerun.


Open Men – Game 2:  Victoria 6 – WA 7

Victoria started the game strongly scoring one run in the first and three in the second.

WA responded with three runs in the third. Victoria scored a further run in the fifth innings.

WA came back strongly in the seventh scoring four runs. Victoria rallied but only managed one in the bottom of seventh, in another narrow loss on day one.

Glen Rigg continued his good form with the bat with another three hits.
