Champions Emerge In Stellar Day Three at 2019 Victorian Masters

Lilydale Ejays and Northwood Falcons have capped off dominant 2019 Softball Victoria Masters Championship campaigns by claiming the respective Men’s and Women’s A Grade titles on Monday afternoon.

After a brief thunderstorm on Monday morning, games proceeded with a slight interruption, before the sun came out for the remainder of the day.

Day three saw the completion of the 142 scheduled games with some close finishes in the race for the medals.

The Northwood Falcons edged out Lilydale Ejays 4-2 in the Women’s A Grade final, reigning supreme and capping off an undefeated tournament.

In the remaining Women’s grades, Eastern Raiders Red got the better of Birralee to win the Women’s B Grade gold medal 11-2.

While Tassie Spirit got the better of Monash White, 7-0 in the Women’s C Grade decider to take the glory.

Eastern Raiders Black proved too strong for GEMSA Gems (9-2) in the Women’s D Grade decider. MVP Falcons got over the line against Casey 2 Cans in a nail-biting 8-7 finish of the final in Women’s E Grade.

As Monash Magic conquered the Women’s F Grade division, by overpowering the Wolverines 12-9 in the gold medal match.

In the Men’s competitions, Lilydale Ejays proved to be too strong for the Melbourne Warriors in Men’s A Grade. Despite the Warriors leading into the final play-off in strong form, the Ejays produced their best softball when it counted most, hitting away in a stirring 11-0 Gold medal victory.

The undefeated Dodgers won the Men’s B Grade Gold medal in a 14-6 victory in the final against the Geelong Cougars, while the Men’s C Grade trophy headed the way of the Pirates, after defeating Casey 2 Cans 16-14 in a passionate and hard hitting encounter.
